Beta 4: Mt. Peril Hard - Wingy - 07-13-2010

As you may know the latest version of the beta is missing one mansion: Mt. Peril Hard. I am working on it right now. Tongue The hard version will be posted tomorrow, hopefully. Working on the green section last.

There will be a new, fun, awesome and cool-looking (imo) section based from the centre goblin village but outside. This will replace the 'magic' section which is being completely scrapped and will probably be seen in a custom mansion, maybe. It doesn't fit, it seems. :-[

Other then that the mansion's design isn't much different, things should just be harder. If you have any suggestions that may appeal to me, for changes in design that would make it more fun etc., I'm open. Bugs and jack stucks etc are welcome too.

The mansion will be posted below soon. Don't try using the built-in button and trying to install it yourself, just open it with the Open Mansion button on the main screen. (After you register it with your code) If your code is invalid, Rose posted a fixed version of the app in another discussion thread about beta 4.

Okay, here's Mount Peril Hard.

I'm looking for:
• Jack stucks
• Rooms that may have unreasonable deaths
• Possible key combinations that can result in a Jack stuck*
• Cheap deaths (as in there was NO way to avoid it)

* There has been a bug found if you use a yellow key towards the vault at the wrong time. In future versions of this mansion in all difficulties, there will something different so you can't do that. This something different is in this hard version here, so see if you can find any way around it. We have to be careful. There is a new section, so...

HARD

I just finished with 83% secrets, but I had an extra blue key and an extra yellow key. I don't know if I missed something, or if it's a result of having to cheat because of the problems listed here:

16504 Jack Stuck. Used a blue key in this room before I had finished the beginning elevator parts, and then didn't have another blue key to use anywhere. In fact, at this point I had no keys.

16700 Jack Stuck. Gray bat platform coming from below is stopped by gray sinking tiles, so you can't go up and get the yellow key above. (same problem as in Easy with the wooden tile)

15897 When coming up the lower left ladder from below, Jack cannot avoid one of the medusa heads.

15906 Jack Stuck. There's no way back up after Jack explores the secret rooms around here.

15101 bottom left When Jack comes up the ladder after the gray door is open, a scorpion immediately kills him.

15101 middle right When Jack goes into the next room on the right and then returns, the steps are all the way to the left. If the zapper in 15102 hasn't been turned off yet, Jack has to make a very long jump over to the steps. Too easy to die here.

14901 Jack Stuck. Jack fell into the acid and died after using his shield to kill the skeleton fish. He reappeared to the right of the pole. The trap doors were opened, he slid down the pole to come back around to get the purple key and coins, but the trap doors were still open.

14702 When Jack pulls the lever on the middle right, the green bricks move down to the bottom of the ladder leading to the blue bat platform, instead of the top. He can't get on the ladder.

16705-16706 Jack Stuck. Jack is standing on the middle level to the right of the earth mound. He can't get up on it, and he also can't get out in 16706.

There were a lot of rooms that I felt were too hard, but I'll go through the mansion again to list those.

Mt. Peril and Jasperlone are my two favorites. Great work!

This is strange, I looked at the movie and Jack ran around the first two rooms then came back and just stands at the grey door, and has been for the past 5 minutes... did the movie mess up or did you go afk for awhile?

If it's the movie try to say which doors you went to and perhaps a solution. Maybe just a sign saying
Be careful with your keys?
the mansion is extremely complicated in terms of keys.

Anthony, I can't remember exactly what I did, that's why I hoped the movie would work. I'll try to figure it out later today.

How do you watch a movie? I searched the forums for the answer but couldn't find it. Thanks.

On the menu, press Command + Spacebar and it will bring you into a windowed mode. Then go into the menu and press
Play Movie...
then select your movie and make sure the mansion is up to date with the movie and in your custom mansion folder.

Here are the rooms I think are too hard:

15499 Seems almost impossible to get all the money without getting killed by a ladybug.

16101 The elevator could go a bit slower to make it easier to get that yellow key on the pole.

16100 Two bouncing eyeballs in such a small space means almost certain death.

16102 Two trolls on the right, and the troll plus spider on the left seem too hard.

17101 Two trolls in the middle are too hard.

15897 Too hard not to get killed by a medusa head or the spider.

16302 Too many critters everywhere.

16097 If the timing is bad with the blocks, Jack will either get killed by jumping into the skull spider or fall into the acid if he doesn't jump.

15901 Spider and eyeball too much. Impossible not to get killed when going to pull the lever.

15902 Too hard to get all the money with the ladybugs, they're too fast. Also, trying to get the green key with the two trolls and spider is too much.

16305 Too many critters.

16304 Two fast trolls and zapper beams too hard.

14703 Too many spiders.

16106 Can't open the red door without jumping into the snake.

Old music is used in 16704.
