Beta 3: Castle Basano - VernJensen - 05-14-2010 Post here for comments about Castle Basano, all difficulties. Re: Beta 3: Castle Basano - gdwright - 05-17-2010 There seems to be a problem at the bottom of the ladder in room 16494, when first stepping off the ladder there is a recess in the floor, jumping out of this recess and then walking over the same space the floor is solid again, also climbing up and back down the ladder, quickly, the floor is again solid. I also entered this room somehow without a gold key and was not able to proceed further or go back had to abort the game. Roomroom 15493 grey moving brick going from the left, goes on into the brick-wallon the right if the other grey brick is gone. What version of the game were you playing on, Easy, Normal or Hard? Which ladder in particular? Could you post a screenshot? I would appreciate it. Thanks! Re: Beta 3: Castle Basano - rose - 05-17-2010 room 16494 coming down the ladder Jack doesn't stop at the floor level but a brick or so under the floor level. This just happens when he first comes down the ladder. The spider kills him at once! Re: Beta 3: Castle Basano - Wingy - 05-17-2010 Ah, I see -- funny, I haven't been able to mimic this bug in the editor -- must be something in game? I remember I did put one square (just one) in the ground by the ladder empty so the spider wouldn't run into Jack past the ladder... I guess I'll have to fill it in, and raise the ladder, so this doesn't happen again. Re: Beta 3: Castle Basano - rose - 05-18-2010 I took the shot in the MLB but I had to start from the room above to get it work. The spider is to close when Jack comes down. It might be OK in a very, very hard mansion. Re: Beta 3: Castle Basano - VernJensen - 05-20-2010 No need to change it Anthony -- I've changed the game to properly handle this case. Formerly, when Jack was climbing down a ladder, the game was only checking the tile on the *left side* of Jack's feet, to see if it was a floor. It ignored the tile under Jack's right side. Now it checks both. The only thing that makes me uneasy about game-wide changes like this, is who knows what it might affect in other mansions. But I've done a bit of testing with it right now, and it should be okay. If nothing else: - avoid seems- consider dropping hasOR change fellto fallen 16089 - Vern mentioned something about changing the game engine to prevent something like this, but as it stands now, it's possibly to get stuck in this room. I fell off the platform that goes off screen back up, and then stranded myself as I barely touched the edge of the other platform and it left without me. 15100 - BBB: Consider changing the second line to: If you want to avoid a terrible fate, jump over them and don't get too close! 15901 - It would be nice if there were some mechanism on the lower floor (possibly a trigger), to the right side of the grey gateway that could open it from the opposite side if it were not already open. As you might guess, on one of my games, I skipped the section with the lever that would have opened the door, and with the grey door closed there is no way back. (The falling platform in moom 15498 prevents it) 16298 - I initially skipped the yellow door here, and went down the ladder, after all of the rooms. There were two yellow doors below, and one yellow key. This left me unable to open this yellow door when I returned. Fortunately, I'd saved prior to using up the yellow key below. Was this intentional? It crossed my mind that by ignoring the yellow door here, I don't believe it prevents me from finishing the game though it does cut out a large number of rooms (17! which seems a bit excessive) and treasure. |
