I can go back and fix the others that I've already done after the mansions are uploaded. If we do checksums, it probably should apply to the uploaded file - not any one file inside the archive. This too, I can go back to do. I can script the process so that it will go fast. Probably mansion sizes are unnecessary as well especially because in most cases the sizes are misleading. They refer to a mansion with all the preview picts. There's very little of value there to most players anyway. The number of rooms is more useful. Classes have been starting up again, but I have a couple days before they do, so. Sorry that I haven't been keeping on top of these forum posts, but don't worry about my mansions guys. I'll deal with them. I'll even see if I can go in and revamp the 'Starcraft' mansions into an HD graphic format. Some - very few - I'm playing from start to finish. I didn't really believe it would be necessary though. The real answer to your question is I am checking in both. By this I mean that I take a pass in the builder, and I also load it as a zip file into the game (but not the latest one on the app store). I use the last beta, where I can use enable arrow keysto jump quickly from room to room (much like you can do in the builder) and test specific things, and play short areas. I haven't been checking every sign, but I have been doing the necessary changes to file names when needed. I didn't see anything that worried me. Which room are you seeing the problem in art minds? I wonder if it is a specific case that I can write a script to check for. If so, then that's something I can run against all the mansions pretty easily. I do know that in this mansion, there are two data files for signs that are both empty. Perhaps these are related? Hard to say. However, this should come as no real surprise as I said pretty much from the start how I was approaching this. My guess was that there would likely be small things like this that might surface. Once these are identified and the mansion is converted, it takes me little time to write programs that can go through mansions in my directory, and find other instances. I guess we will both miss some minor details but I am sure the players will let us know if we have inadvertedly uploaded some unplayable mansions. I fixed Art Minds. The problem sign is in room 1406. It seems to me that Veronika just somehow screw up the text in the sign. I think we do the best job we can given the circumstances, and look for things we know are issues. While I basically agree that ideally we'd leave it up to designers, not everyone has the time to dedicate to this and some folks move on. Sometimes its just easier expanding the testing pool. It's inevitable that we might miss some minor things, I think. I'll go back and analyze that case and see if I can understand why it broke things. Yes - and it would probably even be better/easier to see the ones that have been converted. The only reason I suggested that, is that if the lists were combined it would also be relatively easy to see those that haven't been converted. Instead of that though... how about if we go with the separate list, and then at the bottom list those that *haven't* been converted due to some problem or the other? I agree to the last suggestion - but let's wait until we have finished putting everything else on the list. |
