Hi Leon - Rose is right. Go back the way you came until Jack is roughly where he is in the first picture and then jump back to the left. He should land where he is in the second picture and he can get out easily.

Actually, this confused me too. It took me a while to get out of there, and when I finally did, I wasn't happy. I'd recommend finding a better way to let Jack out that isn't likely to confuse players.
